JULIE- Front Desk
I’ve been in the dental field for about 14 months, but have worked for other offices in other industried for longer than that.
I was an accounting major at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.
People from all walks of life interest me. There is something to learn from everyone you meet and something you can offer to others. I have been in the customer service field for many years, from my first job as a cashier in the 70’s to working in schools, child care and a hotel front desk. I feel like there are a lot of misunderstood people in the world and if given a little bit of your time, patience and compassion, it could mean the difference between a good day and a great day for them.
My work here at Veneman Dental care, First and foremost, is attending to the patients the moment they walk through the door. It is my passion to make them feel comfortable and confident in our care. My responsibilities beyond that have to do with scheduling, insurance, housekeeping, and documentation.
My Favorite part of your job, I would have to say, is the people - both patients and our team. I also need to add that this job has a lot of challenges, some conquered, and some I have yet to overcome. Every day is different, I am constantly learning something new, and exciting. Sometimes it can be difficult, and in the midst of these difficulties, I have the choice to accept the challenge or not. I always accept the challenge!
For fun, I love the outdoors. I have had some unfortunate events in the past few years that have slowed me down a bit but had a wonderful time on a waterfall tour this past summer with my husband. A lot of hiking and some climbing and meeting people along the way. I love to go fishing, going to museums and traveling.
JANINE - Clinical Assistant
I have been in the dental field for about 17 years now. I entered the dental care after graduating in 2001 from the Dental Assisting program at Lakeland Medical Dental Academy
How I ended up working in the dental care world is because when I was young, I was in a bike accident where I lost my two front teeth. The assistants at the oral surgery center where I was treated were fantastic and I wanted to be able to help people just like they helped me.
Here at our Woodville office my daily responsibilities include setting up rooms, sterilize instruments, order supplies, take x-rays, chart, and assist the doctors and hygienist in procedures.
The favorite part of my job is seeing the difference that I can make when a patient’s health has improved. I love being a part of the patient’s healthcare journey starting with their first appointment and assisting them to get where they’d like to be.
When not working I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My son is my world and we love to go camping, ice fishing, and watching movies together. I also enjoy reading a good book and cross stitching.
LORI - Hygienist
For the past 30 years I’ve enjoyed working in dental offices.
I joined the dental field after attending Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN, and being a head start teacher. I went to dental hygiene school when I decided I was looking for employment year round. My sister was a dental assistant, and she made the dental field seem interesting to me. I’m happy she did, I love working in dentistry.
Here at our Woodville office I perform prophys, or “teeth cleanings”, to keep current patients healthy. I also treat patients who have gingivitis or periodontal disease, as well. I take x-rays, administer local anesthetic and nitrous oxide, and I assist the dentist when needed.
It’s extremely fulfilling to see that pink, healthy gum tissue with the patient after we’ve completed periodontal therapy. I truly enjoy seeing the smiles of happy patients. It energizes me, makes it fun to come to work.
For fun I enjoy spending time with “my mom”, my partner Dick and his three grandchildren, I like to cut wood out in the woods, sit on the porch and watch the birds come to the feeders. My favorite bird is a hummingbird.
