Licensed Dental
Hygienist

For the past 30 years I’ve enjoyed working in dental offices. I joined the dental field after attending Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN, and being a head start teacher. I went to dental hygiene school when I decided I was looking for employment year round. My sister was a dental assistant, and she made the dental field seem interesting to me. I’m happy she did, I love working in dentistry.
Here at our Woodville office I perform prophys, or “teeth cleanings”, to keep current patients healthy. I also treat patients who have gingivitis or periodontal disease, as well. I take x-rays, administer local anesthetic and nitrous oxide, and I assist the dentist when needed. It’s extremely fulfilling to see that pink, healthy gum tissue with the patient after we’ve completed periodontal therapy. I truly enjoy seeing the smiles of happy patients. It energizes me, makes it fun to come to work. For fun I enjoy spending time with “my mom”, my partner Dick and his three grandchildren, I like to cut wood out in the woods, sit on the porch and watch the birds come to the feeders. My favorite bird is a hummingbird.

Janine

Dental
Assistant

I have been in the dental field for about 17 years now.  I entered the dental care after graduating in 2001 from the Dental Assisting program at Lakeland Medical Dental Academy. How I ended up working in the dental care world is because when I was young, I was in a bike accident where I lost my two front teeth. The assistants at the oral surgery center where I was treated were fantastic and I wanted to be able to help people just like they helped me. Here at our Woodville office my daily responsibilities include setting up rooms, sterilize instruments, order supplies, take x-rays, chart, and assist the doctors and hygienist in procedures. The favorite part of my job is seeing the difference that I can make when a patient’s health has improved. I love being a part of the patient’s healthcare journey starting with their first appointment and assisting them to get where they’d like to be. When not working I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My son is my world and we love to go camping, ice fishing, and watching movies together. I also enjoy reading a good book and cross stitching.
